Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Wednesday December 19. If you have anything to add call

On December 15 an ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen along Oceanview Drive south of
Brookings.

A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was in Bay City December 15. It is
consistently being seen in an apple tree on Ocean Street between 4th and
5th streets.

A RED PHALAROPE was at the South Jetty of the Columbia River and a
TENNESSEE WARBLER was at the Astoria Sewage Ponds December 16. The
TENNESSEE, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, and NASHVILLE WARBLERS continue to be
seen at 770 W. 22d. Ave. in Eugene. Two BLUE JAYS were near Union in
northeastern Oregon December 15.

The Oaks Bottoms REDPOLLS continue to be seen in Portland. A flock of 40
was at Black Butte Ranch near Sisters, others were in Sisters, and near
Mt. Vernon over the weekend.

The December 16 Coos Bay Count recorded 154 species, including an AVOCET,
two OSPREYS, six BROWN PELICANS, and two LESSER YELLOWLEGS. On December
17 a PALM WARBLER and an olive-green WESTERN TANAGER was in Florence.
That day over 15,000 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS and 1000 SURF SCOTERS were off
Sea Lion Caves and Heceta Head.

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was on Yaquina Bay December 12. A FRANKLIN'S GULL
was at Tillamook Bay December 15, and a ROSS'S GOOSE was on Sunset Lake
south of Warrenton December 16.

On December 16 a LONG-EARED OWL and a hybrid AMERICAN X EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL were at Ridgefield NWR, and a flock of seven
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS was on Sauvie Island. That day a LONG-TAILED DUCK
was on the Fruit Valley Sewage Ponds in Vancouver. On December 18 a
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and about 40 GREAT EGRETS were in Scappoose Bottoms.

The two HARRIS'S SPARROWS continue to be seen at Bybee Lake in North
Portland. On December 15 three SURF SCOTERS and two BARN SWALLOWS were
there. On December 14 a male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD was seen at a Beaverton
feeder. It has remained.

The LONG-TAILED DUCK continues to be seen on McGilchrist Pond in Salem.
On December 15 a BURRROWING OWL was found in Salem's Minto-Brown Park. At
least 23 GREAT EGRETS and 1500 DUNLIN are now at Ankeny NWR.

The MOCKINBIRD continues to be seen in West Eugene. On December 17 a
TURKEY VULTURE and a swallow were near Fern Ridge Reservoir. A ROSS'S
GOOSE is also in the area.

A ROSS'S GOOSE was near Mt. Vernon December 15. A SAGE GROUSE was near
Union December 17. BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS continue in low numbers in northeast
Oregon but three were reported on the December 15 Klamath Falls Count.
