George Gerdts and I gave it the old college try this year but conceded the
field to Marv some months ago. At the moment I have 346 and George has 344,
both by far the best state year lists we've ever tallied and beyond my
imaginings. I believe partly it's the fact that this year has been
exceptional. By my calculations nearly 380 species have been recorded this
year in Washington by somebody or other.
