Today I went up to Vancouver to look for the Ivory Gull, with the help of
two Canadian friends, Murray Brown and Roy Arlt. We found the bird at the
end of Robert's Bank, in exactly the location described on the Vancouver
Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, December 18.

This bird is really worth seeing. It has the pure white body, wings and
tail of an adult, but still has some black flecking around the eyes and no
obvious color to the orbital ring. Is this characteristic of some winter
adults?
