Hello, Tweeters,

Just a quick note on the Sequim-Dungeness CBC, and to add to Gene Hunn's and
Charlie Wright's info. I'm still entering the data, but it looks like we
are at 140 species for the count. Not to rub it in, but we really lucked
out on the weather on Monday -- mostly calm, sunshine, partly cloudy skies,
and spectacular visibility. The day finished with a gorgeous sunset over
the snowcapped Olympics -- Wow!

Noteworthy birds for our count included:

Yellow-billed Loon: 2 seen by our boat party near Protection Island
Clark's Grebe: 1 in Dungeness Bay
Emperor Goose: 3 at Dungeness Spit
Eurasian Green-winged Teal: 1 at 3 Crabs
Blue-winged/Cinnamon Teal female: 1 at Graysmarsh
Ruddy Duck: 1 at Kitchen-Dick Ponds
Sora: 1 at Graysmarsh
Marbled Godwit: 32 in Dungeness Bay
Black-legged Kittiwake: 1 off Diamond Point
Anna's hummer: 2, at West Sequim Bay and Diamond Pt
Townsend's Solitaire: 2, at different locations on Bell Hill and Burnt Mtn
Cedar Waxwing: 1 at Jamestown
Horned Lark: 1 on Dungeness Spit
American Pipit: 2 on Gibson Spit
White-throated Sparrow: 2 - one that has spent the last two months at a
feeder, and one at Graysmarsh
Red Crossbill: highest count ever for our CBC
Common Redpoll: 16, in 3 separate groups

Nearly all possible species cooperated very well, but there were some
notable misses this year:
Greater White-fronted Goose
Band-tailed Pigeon
Brown-headed Cowbird

I'll have other analyses once the spreadsheet is done. And thanks very much
to the wonderful folks who helped us, particularly those who traveled long
distances to help out -- we had close to 100 counters and feeder watchers in
26+ parties.
