Swans of Winter- Trumpeter and Tundra Swans of the Pacific Flyway

Come and learn the acts, myths and legends of the trumpeter and tundra swans
of Washington' s winter. Learn about the life history, biology and in-depth
swan identification in two evenings of lecture and slides. We will explore
the problems and controversies these birds face on their wintering grounds
and what is needed to insure their future. The recent lead poisoning
die-off and other issues of survival these swans face in Washington and
other areas around the country will be discussed. A full day field trip to
the Skagit Valley and beyond will show you the diversity of places in which
you can find swans.

Instructor: Martha Jordan, well-known swan biologist, has been working with
swans and other waterfowl for more than 25 years. She currently chairs the
Washington Swan Working Group.
