Stephanie Dosch and I left from Mercer Island at six this morning in
pursuit of the Yellow-throated Warbler in Twisp. After a five hour drive, we
arrived at trailer number 62 at the Manufactured Housing park at about 11:10
am. After waiting for about twenty minutes, very happy with wonderful views
of 3 COMMON REDPOLLS, the gorgeous YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER made a brief but
stunning appearance at the suet feeder at about 11:30 am. What an
outstanding bird! And outstanding residents, I might add. Unfortunately, I
failed to catch their names, but the residents in trailer 62 are extremely
hospitable and generous. Something that I didn't realize was that this bird
has been around since December 8th . . . it's stuck around quite a long time!
After the amazing views of the warbler, Stephanie and I headed north
to Winthrop, where we found a flock of approximately 30 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS,
accompanied by 15 PINE GROSBEAKS in an orchard.
Due to it being Christmas Eve, we had to book it back to Seattle to be
home by 5:30, which we managed to do. What a great start to Christmas!

Happy Holidays, and Good Birding!
