While visiting with my brother at Christmas he was telling me about a
Burrowing Owl site it Washington near George. He is an engineer on the train
and makes runs between Spokane and Wenatchee. Sometimes they have to drive
back and he travels the road from Wenatchee to I-90 via Hwy 281. He showed
me photos of the Burrowing Owls that use the area in 'circle' formed by the
entrance road to the freeway. There is some old culverts tossed there and
half buried in the ground and a stick in the ground. He said in the summer
there are about 6 owls nesting BUT he also said that there are still at
least 2 owls there now... in the winter. Has anyone in that area checked
this area out. I saw the photos he took this fall and can see the freeway
entrance in the background. I would love to hear back from anyone that knows
about this site.
