A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER has been seen near Twisp, Okanogan Co WA for the
past 2 to 3 weeks. It is essentially visiting 2 sets of feeders, one on
Burger and another across the Twisp River in the Horseshoe Community Trailer
Park. To get to the first location, take WA 153 north from Twisp, then
cross the Twisp River and make a left on Burger. Go to the 90-degree turn,
turn right, and go to the 2nd house on the left. To get to the second
location, backtrack across the river and take the first right onto Twisp
Avenue (if you go here first, that would be a left turn before crossing the
Twisp River) with the King Tire Store on the corner. Turn right onto Magers
Street and straight to the trailer park to site 62. Dave Dunn lives here and
feeds the warbler and would be tickled to death to have you stop by and
chat. WA DeLorme 99, B-8.
An adult basic plumaged BRAMBLING was seen briefly in a flock of juncos near
St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bridgeport, Douglas Co WA on 23 Dec by Mike
and MerryLynn Denny. So far, no one has been able to relocate this bird. WA
DeLorme 100, D-3.
A YELLOW-BILLED LOON is at Oden Bay in Pend Oreille Lake near Sandpoint,
Bonner Co ID according to Earl Chapin. The bird has been present for about a
month and is seen from Sunnyside Road. To get there from the north end of
Sandpoint, take ID 200 toward Montana, at milepost 35 turn south onto
Sunnyside at the Sportsman Access sign. ID DeLorme 62, BC-3 (Sunnyside heads
south from Culver on the map). A better map and directions are in A Birders'
Guide to Idaho p 33-35.
PACIFIC LOONS were reported at various points up and down the Columbia River
in central WA this past week. Dave Beaudette reports seeing one in Chelan
County, north of Chelan Falls along US 97 at mile post 236.2, 2 in Douglas
Co at US 97 milepost 237.7, and 4 north of Orondo along US 97 at milepost

weekend. However, SNOWIES were reported from the WA central basin: 1 SNOWY

Goodhew. Mike and MerryLynn Denny report another SNOWY OWL south of Moses
Lake, Grant Co at WA 17 milepost 48 on 22 Dec. Probably this bird and
another were seen by the Denny's later in the week south of Moses Lake along
road 4 SE west of road M SE. WA DeLorme 69, D-6.

A winter adult SWAMP SPARROW and a white-striped adult WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW were in Wenatchee, Chelan Co, WA at the Wenatchee Confluence State
Park Horan Natural Area on 23 Dec according to Ruth and Patrick Sullivan.
>From US 2 at Wenatchee, eastbound or westbound, follow signs to the state
park. Park in the first parking lot which will be on the right. Walk the
asphalt trail south, go over the bridge over the Wenatchee River to the
entrance to the Horan Natural Area. Continue straight ahead on the trail to
the restroom and continue straight ahead to the pond on your left. WA

"Valley of the Jays" were they are historically seen during winter.
A flock of 60 or so GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCHES are roosting in barns about 6
miles south of Moscow, Latah Co ID. Dave Woodall and I found the birds on 15
Dec. The barns are the first you encounter east of US 95 along Martinson

privacy of the landowners; the birds are easily seen from the road, although
a scope might be helpful, from about 3 pm until dark. ID DeLorme 58, C-1.

near milepost 333 on 27 Dec according to Charles Swift.
