I'll beat the leaders by posting this draft.
The TriCities CBC on Sat Jan 29th was a record breaking success with about
109 species.
We had good coverage by good birders; cooperative weather & luck.
There were basically no misses. Best birds seen include: Eared Grebes,
Eurasian Wigeons, Goshawks, Peregrine Falcon, Dunlin, Least Sandpiper,
Virginia's Rail, Mew Gull, 6 Owl species (Barn, Screech, GHO, Burrowing,
Long-eared, Saw-whet), a rare Hairy Woodpecker, Brown Creeper, Townsend's
Solitaire, Orange-crowned Warblers, 8 sparrows! (song, white-cr, golden-cr,
Fox, White-throated, Harris', Tree & Savannah) Yellow-headed Blackbirds,
Cowbird, Pine Siskin, Redpolls, Tundra Swan, Gray Partridge, White Pelican,
Great Egret & even an Anna's Hummer!

Richland won our little competition with 90 species! So we losers must bow
to them until next year. Kennewick will look to the free agent pool & will
be back in the race next year.
Really you should try to participate in this well organized event. We
could
always use more help. And the potluck & countdown is very enjoyable.
