Julia Butler Hansen NWR, Wahkiakum Co., WA

I spent most of the morning at Julia Butler Hanson NWR this
morning hoping to get video tape to the Black Phoebe reported
at the refuge. I DID NOT find it. And I spent way too much
time NOT finding it (reason #8 for why I seldom chase).

The previously reported BARN SWALLOW was conspicuous as were
6 or so COLUMBIA WHITE-TAILED DEER. A WHITE-TAILED KITE was
also seen near the headquarters.

I found a flock of 25 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER at the scrape across
from the river fishing pullout. One had an atypical smallish
bill that had me going for a few minutes, but flashed the
diagnostic white rump. There were no other plover types at
the scrape. DUNLIN and LEAST SANDPIPER were present, however.
