Arden, I, Mary Ann and Glenn Teague went to Vancouver, BC birding this
weekend, more for the fun of it than anything since the Ivory Gull had not
been seen since the 23rd. We could not go earlier with Christmas and all
going on. We talked to the barge people and they had not seen it either but
explained the last day it was there it sat on the barge for 26 hours
straight without leaving while birders came and went.

It was a beautiful weekend and the Teague's added 4 lifers to their lists.
Arden and I added to our BC lists and I added photos of the CRESTED MYNA and
GYRFALCON.

The Crested Mynas were seen at Crowe & 2nd and Crowe & 1st in downtown
Vancouver as mentioned before on Tweeters. We talked to one guy who comes by
everynight on his way home from work to look at them. He seemed to think
there was still at least a hundred in the city but that this was the only
two left in that area. Another guy we birded with said that there were only
4 left including this one breeding pair. Tweeters had emails about this
being the last 2. Now all three answers can not be right.... so what is the
real count? Does anyone know? Does Vancouver do a CBC? Are they on it?

The GYRFALCON was seen on Boundary Bay by parking at the end 64th and
walking east. It likes to steal food from the Harriers and then eat it on
the logs in the bay as we saw it do while we were there.

The best Non-Birding sighting of the trip was while coming back through
Olympia and some guy in a pickup cut from the right-hand lane in front of us
and into the left hand lane, all, of course, with out signaling. We were all
startled that he didn't hit us and then asked where were the police. At that
point one drove up beside us, did almost the same but not as close. Followed
him a little bit (guess he must have been making the check call) then pulled
him over. We all CHEERED that one of "them" finally got what they had
coming.
