Today, Colin Thoreen, Tyler Davis, Michael Lohr and I birded from Ocean
Shores to Tokeland. The day started out drizzly, but stopped shortly
before we got to Ocean Shores. The rest of the day down along the coast
was quite nice, even getting sunny for a while. We had a good day with
many interesting birds seen, particularly my Michael who is visiting
from Pennsylvania. We birded the Brown's Point jetty, Bill's Spit, Damon
Point, Ocean City S.P., the Hoquiam sewage pond, Tokeland, and Brady
Loop Road.

We had a Long-billed Curlew and Whimbrel and a single male Eurasian
Wigeon at Bill's Spit, a Merlin making an attack on some Dunlin at Damon
Point (unsuccesful), a Rough-legged Hawk on Paulsen Road just as you
turn in toward the Hoquiam Pond, and at Tokeland in among the
approximately 250 Marbled Godwits was the Bar-tailed Godwit. Nice views
of this bird both on the outer jetty and in flight - really stood out.

We finished up with 79 or 80 species, depending if the Trumpeter really
was (flyover and quiet).
