Today, Jim Pruske and I joined Andrew Beelik on his Hood Canal field
trip. We birded mainly in Mason county with one stop in Jefferson
county. We had mostly sunny skies with increasing clouds late in the
afternoon. A Bar-headed Goose was seen at the Lilliwaup Estuary. We were
informed by one of the local resident people that the goose came in last
September with Canada Geese and has been there all winter. Could this be
the same goose that the Seattle area has had in the past?
We had 50 species of birds for the day with the following highlights.

Duckabush (Jefferson county):
A flock of Pine Sisken
1 Merlin with Pine Sisken in talons.
9 Trumpeter Swans (8 adult 1 imm)

Hamma Hamma: (Mason county)
15 Dunlin
1 Black Turnstone
2 female Harlequin Duck
16 Black Scoters

Potlacth S.P.: (Mason county)
20 Red Crossbills
3 Harlequin Duck (2 males 1 female)

Union: (Mason county)
1 Red Throated Loon
30 Canvasback Ducks
