Hello Tweeters,
After yesterdy bit disappointment not seeing the ARCTIC LOON for longer
time,we went birding south again. No traffic, not to many people, you having
the whole country for you self..I can not explain how good it feels having
so much freedem.Today was again a special day where my maine goal was going
on to the jetty to find this Pribilof race Rock-Sandpiper.This was a verry
high tide today,so the Rock birds was not to far down on the jetty. One bad
thing was, the water was spraying all over so the rocks was
slippery.Carrying my Camera on to the jetty was alone hard,i was using my
hands sometime this to get from one rock to the next rock, than the wind was
blowing quite strong,if not standing on a big solid rock,it felt as one get
dizzy. It took me a while to get to the birds and than i could not find the
only bird i came for. While i was standing there few Black-legged Kittiwake
flew by and one first year all white Glaucous Gull went right over my
head. What birders miss when there not going on to the jetty i was
thinking. This Pribilof Rock-Sandpiper changed all this.I had almost phobia
since i had a fall in earlier years on the jetty, never to try it again. But
the one day looking for the one bird i made it all the way to the end of the
jetty David could not believe what i did.So here i am standing on slippery
rocks, the wind is strong and the water sprays you up, i can hardly keep my
balance, but i manage again today to see this rare Rock-Sandpiper and also
taken few photo shots. This was the highlight for me today on Ocean
Shores, but there is one more.We was checking Brady-Loop Road out early in
the morning for the Red-shouldered Hawk,NO LUCK!!!!!But going back in the
afternoon the bird was sitting close to the road for some good photo
shots. One think was wrong it was raining so hard we had to keep our
windshield washer going to see anything.I got my camera ready and there he
went, way away from the road he flew we could not relocate this bird.I was
happy this to know the bird is still present so there would be onother
opportunity to see and maybe get a photo.I had a verry good day today even
when the weather was so crummy
