Greetings,

Field Trip Report, Snohomish County, 5 February 2001.

Looked at birds today at the Everett Sewage Ponds and the Langus Riverfront Trail. The Langus Riverfront Trail runs along the Snohomish River and Union Slough at the south and the east perimeter of the sewage ponds.

Mew Gull...the most common bird at the sewage ponds with over 1400 seen. I searched for the Kamchatka Mew Gull seen Saturday by Scott Atkinson but no luck.

White-throated Sparrow...Two were seen with Golden-crowned Sparrows along the Langus Riverfront Trail in Scot's Broom and Himalayan Blackberries by the bench between the 1/4 and the 1/2 mile posts. One of these had a very white eye-brow. The other had a dingy grayish-white eyebrow.

Yellow-rumped Warbler...Two Audubon's along the Langus Riverfront Trail north of the Jackknife Bridge.

Red-shouldered Hawk...One heard freguently calling on Spencer Island north of the barn.

Herring Gull...One adult at the aerations ponds along 4th Street.

Orange-crowned Warbler...One in the north section [north of 4th St] of the sewage ponds about 1/8 mile north of Gate 2.

American Black Duck x Mallard hybrid...a female with Mallards at the marsh near Gate 2.

Good birding,
David Beaudette
