Hi folks,

Low tide at the Ocean Beaches today at 6pm, so I called in well to cut from
work early to head for the coast, dig a few razor clams at Grayland, and
enjoy the low tide and calm, warm, sunny afternoon. It was shirt-sleeve
weather on the beach! (and the clams were showing really well......)

En route, about 1 mile west of Elma along Hwy 12, was a flock of 29
Trumpeter swans in a hayfield on the north side of the road. There were 2
juveniles and 27 adults in the flock. I didn't see any banded/marked birds,
although several were sleeping and necks/legs were not visible.

A 60-mph bird was a juvie female Cooper's hawk crossing the highway just
west of Central Park.

The only birds I saw on the beach included a flock of 37 sanderlings, and
the usual assortment of crows and Glaucous-winged X Western Gulls scavenging
through the 'clam holes'.
