I have heard indirectly that logging has just begun in a stand of trees near Allyn, WA (Mason County) that has harbored a heron rookery for many years. The site is between Highway 3 and East North Bay Road, a mile or less north of Allyn.

Are heron rookeries afforded any kind of automatic legal protection? Is there anything that concerned neighbors of the rookery can do about it?
