I've had a number of housefinches at my feeder over the years that
have had the quarter-inch globular thing growing apparently out of
the eye. I'm assuming that this is "conjuctivitis"

I hadn't really thought about it before, but the image in my mind of
such a bird is one which has fadded yellow or orange coloring. I think
that's
likely because many of the birds that have come to my feeder with
this condition had that color, or near to it.

So this makes me wonder (assuming my memory is correct) if this might
be supporting the idea that the housefinches with faded yellow
coloration
might be "less fit" and hence more likely to get diseased. Hmmmmm...
Does this correlate with other observations?
