Reply to Mike Wagenbach's question about Surfbirds in Seattle: We live
near Alki Point and frequently walk or jog a loop that includes a
stretch along Alki Blvd. from Bonair Ave to California Ave. We have
seen a small flock of Surfbirds (c. 12 birds) frequently at Duwamish
Head this winter. I haven't kept records of most of these sightings,
but I do have one for December 4, 2000, and we saw them several times in
December and January. Incidentally, I also have a record for the
Surfbirds in the same location from December 26, 1999.
