Hi all,

I am relatively new to the list, been lurking for about a month or so.
I walked most mornings in West Seattle beginning in December, and have
been noticing the surfbirds and turnstones.

I saw a mixed flock of turnstones and surfbirds, about 25 all together,
hanging around Duwamish head a few times in December and almost daily in
January. Occasionally at high tide they were resting west of the boat
ramp where there is head-in angle parking on the water side of Alki Ave.
I sometimes saw them foraging as far as down as Bonair Ave. In December
I saw one surfbird on the cormorant rocks just south of the park with
the constellations on the sidewalk (can't remember it's name) just past
Alki lighthouse.

In the last two weeks, I've been seeing smaller flocks of about 10
birds, between Bonair Ave and Duwamish head, sometimes only surfbirds
and sometimes both species, and some days none at all. I have no
records.
