Hellow, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This

Harry Nehls at 503-233-3976.

The bright male SUMMER TANAGER at the Mill Ridge Estates in the Cedar
Mill section of NW Portland continues to be seen.

The RUSTY BLACKBIRD and CAPE MAY WARBLER are still near Gold Beach. If
interesting in seeing these birds contact Colin Dillingham at
541-247-4752.

The BLUE JAY continues to be seen in Redmond and the TUFTED DUCK is still
at the Astoria Sewage Ponds.

Migrant TURKEY VULTURES, WHITE-FRONTED and CANADA GEESE, and TREE
SWALLOWS made news this past week. On February 7 a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was
at a Port Orford feeder. Several TREE SWALLOWS were in the Rogue Valley
and two were at Fern Ridge Reservior February 10, the same day a flock
was seen near Elma, Washington.

The ROSS'S GOOSE is still being seen at Sunset Lake, south of Warrenton
and three LAPLAND LONGSPURS are now at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River.

Two WHITE PELICANS were over Sturgeon Lake on Sauvie Island February 11.
A BRANT was on the east side of the Island February 14 and another BRANT
is near Mollala State Park near Canby. On February 4 a moribund BROWN
PELICAN was found along McLaughlin Blvd. in Milwaukie and was taken to
the Portland Care Center. A first year GLAUCOUS GULL was at Laurelhurst
Park in southeast Portland February 11.

A pair of RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were recently seen copulating near Dallas.
Their breeding range may be expanding through the Willamette Valley so
now is the time to watch for nesting activity.

A NASHVILLE WARBLER was in Central Point February 10.

Three LAPLAND LONGSPURS were near Grass Valley February 11. A male COMMON
REDPOLL was at a Hermiston feeder February 14.

Thats it for this week.
