While this is a great project, I'd like to remind people that
http://birdnotes.net is collecting similar data.

Not just for four days, but day in and day out. birdnotes.net is a
blue-collar, lunchbucket site that never takes a day off.

Reports are instantly available to all, so you can track sightings all over
the Pacific Northwest at any point in time.

A month or two ago I added a feature that lets users enter a "My Yard"
address specifically for entering yard birds. This data is integrated with
data gathered from everywhere in the region.

Currently we're averaging close to ten checklists and counts a day on the
site, almost all from Oregon.

We're also working to upload data in bulk from various folks who have
substantial amounts of data already entered into private databases.

We're starting to get really nice coverage for parts of Oregon. It would be
great to get more from Washington, and folks are starting to push it in
Idaho. Nevada and California will be added in a month or so.

So - enter your data for the Cornell project, they'll make good use of it.

But consider entering it at http://birdnotes.net, too, because we intend to
make good use of it as well. And we're collecting a much wider array of
data not limited to a fixed point in time.
