On Thursday, I spoke on the phone with Mrs. Carlson about the mystery bird
in her yard in Sequim. (I thought I might go try to see it, but she said
it is very unpredictable and doesn't show up every day.) She seems
familiar with all the common birds, and has seen shrikes before. I
suggested Mockingbird as a possibility, but when she looked in her book,
she didn't think that was it. I described wagtails to her (her books don't
illustrate them), and they didn't seem to fit either (wrong tail pattern,
tail bobbing not constant, etc.). Someone is just going to have to go look.
