I read on TexBirds yesterday that the Green-winged Teal has split into
two different species - North America's Green-winged Teal (Anas carolinensis)
and the Palearctic region's Eurasian Teal (Anas crecca). A. crecca has a
habit of coming to North America (if you recall, there was one at the
Montlake Fill a while ago), so if you see a GWT that lacks the white vertical
bar and has a white stripe along the scapulars, you might have the Eurasion
Teal.
