My wife and I saw the drake COMMON TEAL at the Kirner Road Pond today.
It was originally reported on BIRDBOX by Tom Aversa and seen with Steve
Driscoll. A strongly marked bird. Now I am ready for them to split the
GREEN-WINGED TEAL.
For those who might want to see this bird. Get off 101 at Sequim Avenue
going north through Sequim and a number of miles north of Sequim take
Woodcock west. In perhaps two miles at the intersection with Kirner Road
there is a large pond mostly hidden by trees at the northeast corner. The
pond is best viewed from Kirner through a couple of gaps in the vegetation.
A scope is helpful as all the teal were at the far end (east). I usually
park on little traveled Kirner with the hazard lights on, as neighbors get
vocal about encroaching on their turf.
