I have been faithfully participating in the Cornell-sponsored feeder count
since last November, and I also added the 4-day GBBC. The only difference in
my results is I added to the GBBC ANYTHING I can see from my window (my very
own "natural area"), so I was able to include all the visitors to the area
of Duck Lake I can see but are technically not in my yard, i.e. the Bald
Eagles that make passes at the mallards that are feeding in my yard and the
6-7 Trumpeter Swans that swim by but don't come up into the yard, etc. I
also keep track of the "visitors" in my journal, so over the years I hope to
have a good record of the seasonal and yearly variations in my immediate
area.
