Folks,

There are 3 images (side, in flight, and back) of the Klickitat County
Northern Hawk Owl, observed February 2 by Nancy and Bob LaFramboise ,
included in the Klickitat County "virtual" or "digital" records . These
Klickitat County records of accidental bird sightings ( 5 or less) can be
found http://www.teleport.com/~bhansen/accidentals.htm about two thirds
of the way down the page. Just click on "Front", "In Flight" , or "Back".

Are there similar state bird records archived on the web? If not, it is a
handy way to keep track of who saw what and when as well as story any
visual documentation...sketches, video, etc. It also makes state records
very accessible to those interested. Maybe there might be grant from some
private (Microsoft) or public organization (a fish and wildlife or natural
resources department) to help get these records on line. I hope to get a
digital video of the Bingen Tufted Duck next time I am in the Gorge, adding
one more dimension to data base.

Hope to get the sketches from the Lewis and Clark journals of the
California Condors (first called Vultures of the Columbia) digitized and on
line to go with the information already included in the records. Their
first sighting was where else...Klickitat County.

Happy birding,
