Hi Tweets,

Today there was a drake TUFTED DUCK in the middle of Tradition
Lake in Issaquah. This is the lake at the foot of Tiger Mountain off
I-90.

It was resting with Ring-necked Ducks and Buffehead, about 25
ducks altogether. We viewed it from the outlook on the trail that
runs underneath the powerlines reachable from the Tiger Mtn
Recreational Area parking lot.

This was a duck built like a Ring-necked Duck. It had immaculate
white sides and, so, did not have the contrasting white crescents
that the nearby Ring-necked Ducks had. More impressive was its
crest (or tuft) of feathers originating at the back of the head and
drooping down its nape. Distance prohibited a close study of
bill pattern. It was otherwise patterned like a Ring-necked Duck.

Hope it sticks around. It's a beautiful bird.
