Hello Berry,
I been seeing the Mountain Quail there few times on the airport.I also
noticed that some people was flying there toy Airplanes. When i was seeing
this Quails there was always running up the hill and it was hard to follow
them up this steep hill. There been many birders in the past there could
never locate this birds after we posted our sightings.I presume that the
activity flying this planes and the noise there creating have some impact on
this smal population. We also saw this birds more real early in the morning.

Tweeters,
Made the pilgrimage to the holy shrine of the Mountain Quail (Aka -the Port
Orchard Airport) today with the usual hopes that I would finally see one of
my
bogey birds. Amazingly at the south-west end along the new fence line, I
managed
to see two.
There was a large group of people flying remote airplanes directly over the
area
where the quail have been sighted in the past. One of the individuals that
I
spoke with said that this has been going on during the weekends for quite a
while, and he also said that it also has become a more frequent event during
weekdays. I know this might sound wierd in that the quail live by an airport
in
the first place, but I couldn't help but wonder how this increased activity
is
effecting the birds. Has anyone been monitoring this population?
