Tweets,

I saw the immature Glaucous Gull reported by Michael Christan (?) on the
Birdbox last Thursday, February 22. It was on the roof of the Sundance
Marina small boat shelter visible from the east side of the University
Bridge over the ship canal, near the northern shore. There were ca. 100
gulls lounging on the roof this afternoon about 2 PM. I didn't have my
scope, just 10x42 binocs so couldn't see every detail, but it is a 2nd
winter bird, very pale, with very pale gray mantle and greater coverts, soft
white primaries, nearly white lesser coverts, secondaries, & tail (though
the tail looks a bit darker in the shadow of the wingtips). Legs bright
pink, eye appeared pale, bill yellowish flesh at the base with a
well-defined dark tip. Size equal to that of nearby Glaucous-winged Gulls
but seemed more slender. Some light tan bars visible on the under-tail
coverts, otherwise whitish below. Also present were Ring-billed adults, a
California Gull, some 1st winter Herring Gulls, a nice Western Gull,
Glaucous-winged Gulls of various age classes, and a range of GW X Western
hybrids.
