Not all that weird, actually, as data cabling does not always follow the
same physical routes as telephone lines, and they also do not share the
same equipment. Wireless was down due to equipment failures, was back up
as soon as backup equipment came on line. (If you had Sprint or AT&T, it
was due to router failures).

A friend of mine said the crows he was watching became extremely agitated
and took off, right before he felt the earthquake.
