I don't remember who it was that did this a couple of years ago (Michael
Price, perhaps?), but each year since I check the Christmas cards I receive &
do a bird count. This year I had 5 chickadees, 3 cardinals and 2 canada geese.

The first birds I saw this morning were a pair of crows on a street light. At
least that is better than the house sparrow I saw as a first of the year bird
a couple of years ago.

I wish all of you a happy and healthy 2001 with lots of time in the field and
lots of lifers.
