Columbia Estuary Report - 01/01/2001

Todd Thornton and I went in search of first of the year
rarities. We failed to find any ibises in Ilwaco, but the
MOUNTAIN PLOVER was right there within 10m of the northern
lean-to on the north jetty beach of Ft Canby. Four WHITE-
TAILED KITES were on Lingenfelter Rd at Chinook.

A SHORT-EARED OWL and an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER were on King Av.
A SNOWY OWL was in the driftwood behind the back ponds at
the the shorebird flats of parking lot C. Three LAPLAND
LONGSPURS were near the big pond.

Steve Warner reports a EURASIAN WIGEON from Del Moor Loop.

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
