Hello, Tweeters,

My first bird of 2001 was a very dapper California Quail. I heard them
calling yesterday but this was the first I'd seen them in a while.
Also while birding, I saw a Winter Wren. Over and over again I'm astounded at
how small they are. He was totally fearless. For all I know, I was his first
human! because he totally ignored me and worked a tree limb not ten feet from
me.
Also seen.....a flock of W. Meadowlarks, and another singing on territory.
Female N. Harrier, Brunhilde my Red-Tailed Hawk, apparently sunning herself
with tail and wing feathers spread, and a flicker, busily renovating a
bluebird house to suit himself.
