Hi, Tweets

Trip #4 for the gyr = nada. I appreciate what Jim McCoy was commenting on;
there is quite a variety of interesting redtails in the area. Twice we have
seen a very falcon-like bird perched, which, when flapping across the field
instantly metamorphosed into a redtail. To those who have seen this grey
gyrfalcon, any guess as to whether it's a falcon or a jerkin? (female or
male) Today there were a couple eagles, redtails, five red-breasted
mergansers, eight meadowlarks, and the usual trumpeter swans.

My first bird of the year was a mallard (and friends) which come in to eat
Lucifer Goose's corn and bathe in his tub - why they come into a heavily
forested area is past me, but maybe this corn is good. To hear them
battering through the trees, though, when they are startled is quite
disconcerting. Second bird was a varied thrush, then all the regulars.

Cheers, Diann
