I had a number of life birds last year, but one of the best was a California
Condor in CA. I and many others were attending the Nat'l Audubon Conference
at the Asilomar Conference Center near Monterey, CA. Some of us skipped an
afternoon workshop session to go down to the Big Sur area to look for the
CACOs that had been seen by others. It was raining and as we approached Julie
Pfieffer SP on highway 1 we saw this big black bird perched at the top of a
big fir tree. The California Condor was easily visible from the highway. We
pulled off to the side and watched it for a few minutes until the rain got to
be too much.
