This morning, walking by my kitchen window, I caught a
glimpse in the distance of what appeared to be a hawk
harassing a crow. Thinking, "that's different," I headed
fast for the back door, nearly knocking over my dog,
and grabbing binoculars on the way out. By this time,
there were five birds: an osprey, chased by a bald
eagle (immature), followed by two ravens and either a
third raven or crow. As they flew over the house, I dashed back through it and out the front door. Luckily,
they circled above me for a time so that I could see the
fish clasped in the osprey's talons and hear its calls. The
eagle repeatedly attempted to force the osprey to release
the fish and the ravens joined in cautiously. When they
flew behind a tree, I lost sight of the osprey, But the
eagle and ravens perched in some fir trees nearby for
a time.
Keep looking up.
