Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday January 4. If you have anything to add call

On December 31 a subadult WHITE IBIS was at the Ilwaco, Washington Boat
Basin. It did not remain. The MOUNTAIN PLOVER though continues to be seen
on the beach just north of the North Jetty of the Columbia River.

A SNOWY OWL remains on the beach north of the South Jetty of the Columbia
River. Up to three LAPLAND LONGSPURS and a SNOW BUNTING are in the South
Jetty area. The YELLOW-BILLED LOON continues to be seen near the boat
basin on Netarts Bay.

A pair of MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE are now coming to a
feeder in Brookings. A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and a MOCKINGBIRD were on the
Port Orford Christmas Count. Several MOUNTIAN CHICKADEES, a NASHVILLE
WARBLER, a ROCK SANDPIPER, 145 BLACK PHOEBES, and 26 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS
were found on the Coquille Valley Count.

ROCK SANDPIPERS are also being seen at the mouth of the Siuslaw River, at
Yaquina Bay, Depoe Bay, and Tillamook Bay. Five SNOW BUNTINGS are still
being seen at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. The Yaquina Bay Count found
a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW and two BARROW'S
GOLDENEYE. A HERMIT WARBLER is now coming to an Astoria feeder.

A PRAIRIE FALCON was at Ridgefield NWR December 28 and at St. Helens
December 31. A BLACK PHOEBE continues to be seen in Milwaukie. On
December 30 a SWAMP SPARROW was seen at a marsh at the junction of SW
Walker Road and 150th. Street in Beaverton. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK has
been at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove all week.

An adult GLAUCOUS GULL was along Highway 18 south of McMinnville January
3. Up to 43 TRUMPETER SWANS are in the area about the EE Wilson SWA and
another five are in the Forest Grove area. On December 31 a TURKEY
VULTURE and a MOCKINGBIRD were in west Eugene and two WHITE PELICANS and
a TREE SPARROW were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On December 30 a LONG-TAILED DUCK and about 4000 COMMON GOLDENEYE and
GREATER SCAUP were in the Columbia River Gorge at the Biggs grain
elevator. On December 31 a FERRUGINOUS HAWK was in the Hood River Valley.
A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and a SAVANNAH SPARROW were on the December 31
Prineville Count.
