Here is an interesting development, the monolith that appeared at and
disappeared from Magnuson park in Seattle has reappeared -- on the island in
Green Lake. What makes this bird related is that the island is a bird
sanctuary and us mere humans aren't supposed to trespass there. I'm more
worried about the mediots trampling around than anything else. Here's the

Mysterious monolith reappears in middle of Green Lake

SEATTLE ? A 9-foot monolith that first materialized in Magnuson Park on New
Year?s Day mysteriously reappeared Thursday on an island in the middle of
Seattle?s Green Lake.

Neighbors were not sure when the monolith was taken to the island, because
thick clouds and fog enshrouded the area early Thursday morning.

KING 5 News had received a cryptic e-mail tip from ?Monolith 9000? early
Thursday morning, which read: ?The area is green, and a circle for all. The
center is where, the monolith will next fall.?

The renegade sculpture, which resembles the shrieking black marker in
Stanley Kubrick?s movie, ?2001: A Space Odyssey,? first startled visitors at
Magnuson Park on Monday.

But workers who came to take a look at the monolith on Wednesday morning
found only some burned candles and a rose.

Sources tell KING 5 News that the group that put the sculpture up in
Magnuson Park is not the same group that took it down.

Park authorities have another concern. The Green Lake island is a bird
sanctuary, and no one is supposed to even be trespassing there.
