Birding with Wayne Tillay and Mike Denny Sunday (Jan.7) we started east of Walla Walla in cold low fog where we found 4 Long-eared
Owls and 1 Townsend's Solitaire.

At Columbia Park in Kennewick there were 2 Pacific Loons, 2 Eared Grebes, and 1 Long-tailed Duck. We tried for the Richland Blue
Jay and didn't see it. We must have been right behind the Sullivans since we saw them in Bingen. We saw the Tufted Duck in cold
wind then went up the hill into White Salmon where we heard the Blue Jay. Mike also heard a Sapsucker.

Monday we tried for Rosy Finches at Lake Lenore--missed. Tried for Snow Buntings at Atkin's Lake--missed. Tried for Sharp-tailed
Grouse along Foster Creek--missed. Tried for Bohemian Waxwings at Pearrygin Lake State Park and saw 17. We figured we needed more
snow cover to see the Sharp-tailed Grouse as there was some ground exposed on the side hills. Cameron Lake Rd. was poor birding
also.
