I found the Stanwood Great-tailed Grackle no problem this morning around 9:00 -
it was on the main road into town next to the Rite-Aid. From a long distance
it looks like a scrawny crow sitting with all the Brewer's Blackbirds and
Starlings. Up close, of course, it looks like a grackle.

I dipped on the Snohomish Gyr, but I must say - that section of Old
Snohomish-Monroe Rd. is pretty impressive. Scoping from the road between the
two farms mentioned (about 3/4 of a mile south of the Pilchuck River), I was
able to scan probably about exactly a square mile, and I counted *at least*
NINE Red-tailed Hawks, 2 Bald Eagles, and a Northern Harrier.
