Isn't it interesting how different people can see the same bird in
different ways.
I would have to agree the bird is noticeably larger of course than the
Red-wings but to my eye not twice as large. Of course maybe he was
sitting near some hefty Red-wings at the time. I 'd say more like what
M. Hobbs wrote "like a scrawny crow". And a crow is much larger than a
Red-wing.
I guess my mistake is comparing size in terms of other birds. Not a
great idea, is it.
And of course the bill and tail were much larger without question.
I think maybe my perception was tainted by my mental visualization
(expectation) of the bird beforehand.
