Well......I bought a scope. I called Eagle Optics, as so many of you advised.
This was after I accessed their website and saw the Special Pricing. It was
indeed special and I couldn't resist. I bought the Swarovski AT-80 with the
20-60 zoom. I didn't get the HD because of money concerns. Still haven't
bought the tripod, but I'll probably buy the Bogen with a quick release mount.

Eagle Optics really did have the best price I could find. Because of that I
could afford the higher level scope. I talked to Drew and we started talking
birding......now this IS a shop I can deal with!

Thank you, everybody, for your opinions, comments, advice and help. I
probably wouldn't have gone so high glass if it weren't for you (yeah, thanks
a lot says her grumbling husband, muffled by peanutbutter..). It certainly
helps to have tons of emperical knowledge and experience from others before
one makes an expensive decision like this one was.
