Tweeters, Yesterday my friend Keith Messer and I went to see the Hawk owl,
and Grackle, and on the way home found a very mottled adult red tailed hawk
around mile marker 268 on I-5, in the early afternoon....It had the normal
head and bill shape of the traditional red tail, pale rufous belly with no
apparent band from the views we got(back and side and in flight, going away
from us....), and of cours the traditional tail. It appeared as though a white
bird was splashed with very dark, almost black paint. I have seen, a variety
of red tails and some beautiful ones, especially in the winter in Skagit, and
well as winters in Kansas, but this beauty beat them all. I do hope others get
a chance to look for this bird.......Vicki Biltz Bonney Lake
