Drove 2.5 hrs on Tues the 16th for approximately 2 minutes viewing of the
N.Hawk Owl in Blaine. We arrived about 0930 and found the bird perched high
in a tree along the forest edge bordering the raspberry patch at 8699 Stein
Rd. It then flew to another tree deeper in the woods where it stayed
briefly, it then disappeared and could not be relocated.
Driving back through the Samish flats we saw:
10 Wild turkeys- in the field just as the Samish Island Road crosses the
slough.
1 Short Eared Owl at the west 90
1 Prairie Falcon just south of the T-junction
At the Jensen access we had 1 distant Snowy Owl on driftwood. At the Big
Ditch we saw 2 Snowy Owls and 1 Peregrine.
We could not locate th grackle in Stanwood. There was someone working on
the roof of the feedstore at the time however.
