Had a great day in Big Ditch & Stanwood yesterday, 2 SNOWY OWLS, a PRAIRIE
FALCON on the farm side of the dike, several NORTHERN HARRIERS, 2
SHORT-EARED OWLS (competing w/NHs), juv. RTH, several RUFOUS-SIDED TOWHEES,
and of course the GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE in Stanwood.

I usually enjoy just lurking around Tweeters, reading your great posts. What
prompted me to write this message was an unusual NORTHERN FLICKER at Big
Ditch... the individual was I think one of the red-shafteds (with the red
auriculars) but also with a RED NAPE (like the yellow-shafteds). I've only
seen the black auriculars on yellow-shafted varieties, any thoughts? I
appreciate this list, keep up the great posts!
