It was a dark and quiet morning, fairly cold but thankfully windless and
fogless. Things seemed really quiet, birds were hard to pish out, and we
generally felt that we weren't seeing that much. Very few gulls, sparrows and
wrens hard to find. However it was a good day for ducks and raptors and in the
end we had seen quite a bit.

Highlights:

Green-winged Teal At least 16 at the Rowing Club
Common Merganser Three males at lake
Sharp-shinned Hawk Great look at small adult male
Cooper's Hawk Large adult at lake
Bald Eagle Immature at lake
Barn Owl At the windmill, 7AM
Brown Creeper At least one in deep woods
Lincoln's Sparrow One at compost piles

Just south of the dog area at the edge of the deep woods we found a very small
adult Sharp-shinned Hawk, barely bigger than a robin. We got to study it for
quite a while before it dropped down and disappeared into the woods.

All told, 11 species of duck, 4 species of raptor, and a total of 50 species.
