Hi Tweets: has anyone ever seen a DOUGLAS SQUIRREL on Mercer Island? After
living here fifteen years, suddenly one has moved into my woods. At least I
think it's a Douglas: small; 6 or 7 inches; plump; overall dark brown; even
the tail-- with white or tan guard hairs; white belly. Feisty little fella. I
put out a dish of cracked corn and he (?) won't let the grays near it, though
he doesn't mind sharing with the DARK-EYED JUNCOS. What a lovely creature!
