Subject: Binocular and spotting scope survey

Last Sunday I put up a very, very simple binocular and spotting scope poll
on http://birdnotes.net, and invited OBOL and NVBIRD listserv subscribers to
respond.

The response was unexpectedly high - 215 people have responded to the
binocular poll thus far.

So, what the heck, I thought I might as well invite folks on Tweeters to
participate.

It's very, very easy to do so, and you can view the running totals, too.
You don't need to register to participate, just visit http://birdnotes.net
and click on the (hopefully obvious) hyperlink to the pools.

The results aren't earthshaking, but interesting. Thus far, about 40% of
the respondents own either Swarovski, Zeiss or Leica binoculars - high-end,
expensive glass. About the same percentage or even more own high-end,
expensive spotting scopes, too.

We do spend a lot on birding, don't we? :)
