Kelly, Dianna and Tweeters:

So what is "Tweeters" for? This Starling issue raises this thought. Is
tweeters merely a site for serious ornithologist and related to post
scientific research, daily bird list, and rare bird sightings? Or is it
a site to also discuss other more personal, controversial and ethical
issues such as trapping Starlings?
I'm sorry but I see no harm in the email discussions on this topic.
Whether it be Jon Anderson's insightful response to Michelle's email, or
Glenn Hansen or Steven kimball humorous ones, or the many others who
came on the side for or against Michelle's point of view, or my
SATIRICAL (yes, thank you Lisa Godina, I was using satire!) reference to
point out my discomfort in Michelle's inference in her response to Jon
that people who have children are somehow the (and I quote her here)
"very base of all our environmental problems".
We ALL reflected our personal beliefs in our emails. I read no "personal
attacks" in any message.
I have read other regions "tweeter" type web sites and they all have
various heated discussions on such topics as ethical treatment of
animals, using tape recording to call in owls, trespassing on private
property to view rare birds, etc. I have found them most interesting,
sometimes amusing and always enjoyable.
Now I know some of you are going to say this can be done without getting
too personal. I agree. But I think that in this case Michelle open that
door herself when she responded so personally to Jons email response to
her original "starling trap" message.
So with that said I think I will retire from this discussion and let the
"incredibly knowledgeable people" have "their" tweeters back.
